This is a legacy article from the old website. This document seems to be related to the Tactics In War document and therefore the same clan. Therefore, please consider it only for the sake of curiosity as it tells us little about the clans we are interested in.
Our clan is the Foxheader and we number over a thousand souls in six farming steads nestled between the mountains and the steppes. The empire has taken our cattle and our shrines but we now breed sheep of the best wool and meet in the woods and the rivers to worship our gods.
Some of our clan have taken to worshipping foreign gods but they are not so far gone down that road that we are torn by kinstrife. They turn a blind eye and we do not send them into the wilderness. Our over-tribe is also split; with the King and many of the high priests turning their backs on the old ways, but the council, the thanes and the shire-reeves all curb their excesses. When the balance tips towards the empire there will be war amongst us.
We are rich but recent wars have taken their toll on our clan. We have trading rights in the city and some of our cousins live there so they can practice their trade closer to the market. We grind and polish a soft stone that is found on our tula. It buffs up into bright colours and is sent to many lands. We also harvest the softest wool and send it to the market and because of our relationship with the horse people we breed good horses and sell them also.
The horse people bring their herds to feed on the stubble from our fields, after harvest. Their animals fertilise our fields. Some of our young people may marry into their tribe and some of theirs into ours. Our holy people found out that their warrior god is a companion of our god Elmal the Rider so we have built a shrine to both of them. The horse people consulted their oracles and found that our Earth and Mother Goddess is the same goddess as their mother goddess so our young women can take their magic with them into their new families. We and the Horse People are close friends and that has helped us also in war.
